My first experience with creche was about three years ago. My husband is from Fort St. John and while we were going to college we came here for an internship in the winter. It was about the first week in December and it was  announced at church that the Creche would be that coming weekend. I really had no a clue what they were talking about but I was excited to go. We went to the church and I was shocked at how beautiful it was, how many nativities were there and how much time and love went into setting it up. I was very impressed and still am to this day. I have now been here for three winters going on four and have loved being a part of Creche. ~Jessie Brown, Fort St John, B.C.

I have heard of many nativity displays all over North America!  Some are in their infancy with 50 displays and one group of volunteers that have a passion to share the spirit of Christmas.  I have heard of some that have over 3000!  Yes 3000! 15 different denominations involved.  This is my hope and dream for our yearly display.  We have just over 300 and growing.  My dream is for community members and other churches to bring their pictures of Christ and their nativities to put on display.  I want people to record and share the stories of the nativities.  I have heard so many.  Some make me laugh and others are deeply moving.  I hope that we can all put aside our differences and preconceived ideas and share in the spirit of Christmas as we come together to create an amazing start to the Christmas season. ~ Ginger Alexander, Fort St John. B.C.

The first time I had the opportunity to experience The Nativity I sung in the musical program. It was very special being able to share my love of the Savior through my voice and project that love to others. I especially loved bringing little kids that I babysat to teach them about the Savior's birth. ~Kaitlyn Moore, Fort St John, B.C.

I enjoy getting my decorations and nativities out early. It helps me to put Jesus Christ first in our thoughts and plans for the Christmas season. ~Irene Shurtliff, Taylor, B.C.

Coming to and participating in The Nativity Display definitely helps me to feel the Spirit of Christmas. It reminds me of what a wonderful gift that our Savior is for us. How blessed we are to have this gift and to have opportunity to share it with our community. ~Anonymous.

My favourite year was when we had the well in the middle of the display and above it was a star. When I looked in the well there was a mirror on the floor and I could see see the star above. The entire room felt like it had stepped back in time and there was a rustic beauty about it all that made me love walking through. ~Kara Wheat, Fort St John, B.C.

I enjoy unpacking the nativities and seeing all the varieties, but also realizing that the Savior is the one central theme. It is also nice to have the Christmas music in the background, preparing us for the upcoming season. "Many hands make light work." ~Judy Hawthorne, Fort St John, B.C.

The things that stick out in my minds are the Nylons that sung in the musical program and the respect that was shown from those who also sung in the program and from our community. ~Chris Wheat, Fort St John, B.C.

I also loved the Living Waters theme. One of my fondest memories is when my family came for the complimentary family photographs. The background was like a stable with a bed of hay for baby Jesus. In the cradle was a doll which we removed and replaced with our 2 month old grandson. We all dressed as angels and shepherds and gathered around the baby. The picture turned out fantastic! A family memory combined with the photo that I'll remember for years. ~Donna Folk, Fort St John, B.C.

A wonderful , peaceful and inspirational event to begin the sacred Christmas season :) ~Deb Bartok, Charlie Lake, B.C.

I love the Nativity Display. It wouldn't be Christmas without it. ~Teresa Brown, Fort St John, B.C.

I remember many of the nativities because they have come year after year and I've tried to take pictures of as many as possible. Over the years, I've seen a huge variety and have heard many stories about these nativities. These beautiful sets are treasure to the individuals that own them. I remember one ceramic set that was not finished being painted, but was still displayed to show the progress. It was wonderful to see the completed set years later. I also remember breaking my favourite set that a friend had given me. I was quite upset. Amazingly, I found the tiny broken piece in the spring, long after the snow had melted out on my front porch! Participating in The Creche each year has been a hectic and busy yet wonderful and spiritual experience. ~Wendy Wheat, Fort St John, B.C.

Amazed. Awed. Taken aback by the beauty and detail. I just love going for a visit a few times during The Creche weekend. Sometimes I simply attend by myself and enjoy the peace of not having children with me, but that also allows the quiet stillness of the event to permeate my soul. There is much peace and tranquility at The Nativity Display. Much to see and much to feel. My friends have been involved with this project for years and I see and hear some really neat experiences they've had behind the scenes. I appreciate the amount of work that is annually put forth to make this incredible beautiful moment happen for the community. It is truly wonderful to see others quietly and reverently celebrating the birth of our Savior Jesus Christ and worshiping Him. ~Kara Strate, Fort St John, B.C.
